Seventeen-year old Holly Bishop strives to please, excel and become the first in her family to attend college despite a rocky childhood which includes child abuse. Her life has been spent in a house with four generations and boarders where she learns people tend to hurt those they love most. Although Holly's classmate and nemesis, Nikki, wreaks havoc with Holly's personal life, Holly feels sorry for her and works behind the scenes to try and make Nikki's life better even as Holly struggles herself. When tragedy strikes, it is Nikki whom Holly calls for help. To Holly's amazement, friends she didn't even realize she had also rallied. When the storm settles and life looks promising, Holly has found the love of her life and has introduced Nikki to someone who loves her as well.
Although it depicts very real childhood experiences, SHOOG is fiction. It is the hope of the author to reach out not only to children who have been abused but adults who still fight to believe in their worth. Any similarity to persons living or dead is purely coincidental.
